Because I think it is an interesting topic I have copied and pasted this from another post. Couldn't find it anywhere else - but maybe this will be helpful to someone in this forum.

From Jana in reply to a question about phantom limb pains and where on the body to treat............
RosWatson --- If it were me, doing hands on I would work near the amputation site because that is where the confused nerves end. Visualize a flow from the hands into the limb, past the amputation site into the limb that was there. I would 'talk' to the tissue and nerves, encouraging harmony. I would always take time to bless the missing limb and thank it for it's service and then visually let it go. I encourage the client to join me in this visualization as well. In doing distant, I would visualize the limb as if it were still there (the auric imprint still is...)

This might be an interesting thread to pursue - maybe we should move the topic over to general discussion....

I have maybe a wee bit of insight...maybe not. Im not an amputee but when I had my c section w/my dtr, I had a spinal/epidural and they always put a urinary catheter in w/this surgery. The RN waited till I was numb but maybe not all the way b/c I felt like my right leg was bent even though I felt nothing from the diaphragm down. Afterwards,I asked her to straighten my leg and she told me it was already flat on the table. She explained that maybe some of the nerves in my hip/leg were only 99% numb but my brain had the MEMORY of my leg being bent even after I was numb hence the FEELING it was bent. My right leg was very sore the next day, like I had exerted myself. Anyway, everytime someone speaks of phantom pain, I always think of this and wonder if it is also cell/brain memory of pain once being at that site. I have also read about practitionrs treating the etheric body as well b/c the leg on that body is there. I dunno if I am being confusing or unclear (hope not) but this is my experience w/body memory FWIW. Maybe do QT to the area of the brain (generally) to get to the area where the memory is stored. HTH

I have worked with phantom limb pain some. I found that if I just acted as if it was a real leg and (applying the core work) "rode the flows" of the "energetic" leg, I was able to sense it and work it just like a real leg.

Within my experience the few people I worked with said their phantom limb pain was gone and stayed gone afterwards.

You are so right about the cell memory and that's a good idea about working on the brain to get at the memory centr!! I would suggest that the intention might be to converse with the body and assure it that the calls need not "play up" in order to get noticed!! Thank the cells of the missing part for the work they did and assure them that their work is now done and they can rest!!!!

I have worked on the stump of an amputated leg that had searing pains in it 30 years after the amputation. On thinking back possible this was the same thing as the phantom pain. Just letting us know that the energetic leg was still around! The pains disappeared after 5 minutes and my friend did not have to resort to pain killers as he normally did. love

Hi,

I have heard that Kynesiology (Touch for Health) can be of great help with phantom pain.
In the course I followed this was told but cannot exactly remember how but if you want to know I could ask my teacher.
