Hello all,
I'm new to QT, and had a phenomenal experience running energy into myself tonight. However, after reading posts on this forum, I'm nervous that I may have been hyperventilating. I'd appreciate feedback! I was lying down & running energy into myself. After a few minutes, the ends of my fingers became tingly, along with my a spot on my chin and my upper lip. The sensation spread across my jaw and ears, and throughout my hands. It was a very pleasant sensation. After a while (I lost all concept of time...), my hands felt 'glued' to my stomach, and my stomach felt as though it was vibrating also. I had the 'energy glove' sensation that another user mentioned in his post. I did not have any light-headed feelings. I felt relaxed, alert, and wonderful. At the end of my session, I touched my husbands hand, and he felt a warm & slightly tingling sensation. Does it sound like I'm on the right track? Thank you, Estrella |

Sounds like you're doing it right. Since you didn't feel light-headed and felt comfortable, I suspect you weren't hyperventilating. To avoid hyperventilation, breathe as deeply and fully as you can to run the energy while maintaining a comfortable pace and use the more intense breaths only briefly and occasionally to avoid hyperventilation. Welcome to the fambly.

Welcome Estrella,
Pretty name. Ditto what Cris said. The more you're around you'll see that different folks feel/sense the energy differently, some not at all. But it doesn't sound like your hyperventilating to me either. What happens whn you do it standing up? or sitting?
Oh boy, are you in for a treat. Just keeps getting better and better! Christina Blessings, Love and Laughter, and Big Warm Hugs |

Thanks ladies!
I suspected that I was doing it right, but after so much talk of hyperventilation on the boards, I wanted to be sure.
I have only tried QT when lying down, but I can definitely tell a difference between deep breathing sitting up & lying down. When I did the breathing exercises sitting up on my bed, I became light-headed and had to slow down. I think it's because I'm not sitting properly, and if I sat up straight on a chair or cross-legged on the floor, it would be better. I didn't have that problem at all when lying down. As I said before, it felt wonderful! =) While I was running energy into myself, I had the sensation of meditating. In fact, QT actually seemed better than meditating because it was easier to quiet my mind and focus. I am so grateful that I stumbled across QT. It's amazing to me how easy it really is to harness our own energy. I'm waiting for someone around me to need to be 'fixed' now Have a fantastic day! |

The fact that you didn't get dizzy while lying down makes sense, even though you were hyperventilating. The big tipoff is the numbness around the lips and on the face...that is classic hyperventilation. You don't get that when running energy. The second tipoff is that the hands were feeling "glued" which some people describe as "claw hands." Very classic signs of low CO2 levels in the blood, obvious hyperventilation. When you are lying down, your brain is on the same level as your heart, or nearly so, and thus it is easier for your brain to be perfused while lying down. Hyperventilation causes one's blood pressure to drop, and lying down helps to prevent that pressure drop. Stand up or sit up, and Voila! You notice the difference. You had dizziness and light-headedness right away. Bingo!! The difference in how you felt with changing posture is the third tipoff that you were hyperventilating.
As a retired anesthetist, I understand respiratory physiology and blood gases very well...it was my stock in trade for 40 years of administering surgical anesthesia. You have described the common signs of low CO2 in the blood gases to perfection. If you wanted to write a textbook about hyperventilation, you could not have described it more clearly. Here is my suggestion: Back off on the breathing a bit and notice if you feel the change, notice the difference. Pay attention to the sensations in your hands, and your ability to move them at will. If they feel frozen or don't want to move, back down further on the breathing. You will arrive at some combination of breathing that doesn't make you dizzy or give you facial tingles, and that will allow you to feel the sensations in your hands that come when running energy. As you progress and practice, you'll automatically be breathing more normally, and will still be able to run energy just fine. Richard Gordon gives a list of the four common errors people make when learning QT, and hyperventilation is not on the list. I think it should be, because it is so very common. I see it in every class I teach, without exception, and IMHO it is THE most common mistake during the learning process. One thing about "fixing" people: We do not fix anyone! The healer is ALWAYS the client. We offer a higher vibration....they resonate with that and entrain to it, and cause their own healing to begin. We don't diagnose nor treat. We offer, that is all we do, and clients heal themselves. It's wonderful that you're getting that "meditation" feeling, Most of us do experience that or something very much like that, a feeling of being "connected," which is very nice indeed. It sounds like you're doing everything right, except breathing a bit too hard or fast, and that's easily corrected. Welcome to QT and enjoy the Journey! This message has been edited.
