I don't remember that off-hand - I can imagine it being suggested to initially "rev you up" when you're not used to doing QT. Or if you are in a formal situation and waiting for a client, it makes sense to go ahead and get started on amping yourself up rather than just twiddling your thumbs. But it doesn't make sense as something you "must" do in every situation. After all, that initial revving up is naturally going to occur whether you already have your hands on the person or not!

The exercises in the book are demonstrations of how the different breathing patterns are done, it is a teaching, pointing out different patterns. You practice them during learning and in class situations in order to learn them. After you are knowledgeable about the different patterns, you are going to use them during the sessions...it isn't something you do as a warmup or preliminary "exercise."

As you do a session, there is no need to use them all. Use the one or two that feel right to you and that are working to help you to get the sensations in your hands. If one breathing pattern isn't doing the job at any given time, switch to a different breathing pattern.

The only time we practice them ALL in one session, is in the workshops, as a learning/teaching method. We practice them in class but in sessions, we just use the ones that work best at any given time. I don't have any "warmup" before a session, I just have the intention to run energy for the greatest good of the client and start. I hope this helps!

I am really eager to use QT in the best possible way.The fact is that i have developed several complaints over the years. The most disturbing one is an irritable bowel.I also was a too enthusiastic runner and cyclist in the past.As a resuly i had periostitis in my lower legs and the tendons above my knee got irritated. The main problem has gone but the complaints are still lingering. I have started to run again very carefully, and that goes very well but and i want to bring my problem areas in the best shape possible.Lastly i irritated the tendon rhat runs between my sternum and my shoulder.Tendon trouble and such allways take a long time to heal. But my body does seem to have not much healing power by itself. The periostitis has been with me for 20 years.
So what do i do with QT, do i rotate my problem areas for treatment fo instance. Is there a general healing touch.
Have experienced te miracle of QT while treating someone for backache. Feels great that you can be such a help!
I would be very gratefull for any advice!

I would start with what is uppermost in your awareness as a problem, and start there. Then, during the session and over the coming weeks, chase the pain.

QT can help everything tremendously, particularly the irritable bowel syndrome. But for permanent help for your structural problems, I would take a look at the book "Pain Free," by an excellent physical therapist, Pete Egoscue.

His thesis is that the body is made to move, and something like running, in and of itself does not cause injuries; similarly, repetitive activities do not in and of themselves cause repetitive-stress injuries.

What causes these problems is when the pattern is no longer properly aligned because of various muscles patterns caused by lack of movement. When the body becomes misaligned, it no longer works correctly, and that's when injuries and chronic problems like this happen.

On the one hand, I believe that QT can realign the body all by itself - but if your structural problems are caused by chronically unused muscles, I don't see how the realignment can hold.

So my feeling is that QT would be excellent for initial relief, but I would suggest the "Pain Free" exercises to permanently correct your structurally related problems.

Hey Zee,
If I was working on mine own self for these things, I would put my miniature self in the field between my hands and do distance sessions. This is about as general as you can get and the body intelligence, wonderful it is, will use the energy where needed.
If I felt compelled to, I would put my various parts between my hands and work on them.
I would also experiment will everything I knew to find out what works the best for each different thing.
One thing I've noticed is that when working on others, we will go for longer lengths of time than for ourselves.
So don't short yourself in the area of time.
And if you'd like some help, you can post on the "Healing Request" forum.
I can attest to the marvelous assistance I/we have gotten from the generous loving angels here.
It's kind of funny how those of us that are regulars here find it most difficult to ask for help for ourselves. But when we get over that part of it we are extremely blessed by the response.

The breathing techniques in the book are listed there in order that you may learn them...you practice them as a learning exercise. When DOING A SESSION, you use whichever breathing technique gives you the greatest sensation in the hands, at any given moment. As you raise your vibration, you will likely switch from one breathing pattern to a different one, and see how that changes the flow of energy in you, and how your hands feel.

You seem to be hung up on practicing breathing before a session...this is not necessary, just learn the patterns, move on, and they will be there, available to you, as you run energy and offer sessions.

May I make one distinction: We do not do treatments, we offer sessions. "Treatment" is a word that describes what licensed health care professionals are entitled to do. They can diagnose and they can treat. If you are not licensed to treat, you may not treat!

So practice the breathing techniques until you are at ease with them. In a class setting, this takes very little time....then move on. Then just use them as you offer a healing session to whomever, or to yourself. You don't run thru them in preparation for a session, just run the energy. I hope this helps.

Well, I'm not Cert Public Hugger, but here's some ideas anyway. Some people use a teddy bear or photo to give them something physical as a substitute for the 'real' person being healed. Some use a name and location. Some use a photo but it's on the computer and not literally held in the hands.

This seems like extra steps to me. I was taught to just make an intention to connect with a name, and pretend they are right between my hands. Once it seems like they are there, then I can move my hands to their knees, head, etc just as I might during an in-person session. The person between my hands can 'shrink' to a small being or be 'expanded' for a close up view of some area. In some ways it's easier than working on a 3D person.

btw, it's ok to make an intention to connect to, for example: "Jane's friend's mother". You don't need to have the actual name; the universe knows who/what you mean and will sort it out for you.
