Self-Healing Meditation

When you have ten or fifteen quiet minutes during the day - particularly the last thing at night before you fall asleep and the first thing in the morning before you get up - go quietly within and “flood” your body with consciousness. Doing this ‘meditation’ will raise your body’s vibration which can be extremely healing, particularly if you are stressed or just beginning to come down with something (you may be able to stop a cold or flu in its tracks with this meditation!).

It is best to do this while lying flat on your back. Close your eyes and breathe softly, yet deeply (no loud noises), focusing on pulling universal/divine energy in from all around you. Take your time and relax. Breathe in deeply (stay relaxed!) and then breathe out very slowly (but comfortably) and focus all of your attention within your body.

Start by focusing first on one hand, then on the other hand. You can do this by mentally asking “Where is my right hand?”, and so on for each body part. (Note: It is not unusual to become aware of sensation in your feet as you are focusing on your hands.) Once you have felt the sensation (e.g., tingling, warmth, pulsation, fullness or however you perceive energy) in both hands, then move your focus to your feet, then your arms… legs… abdomen… chest… head, and so on.

IMPORTANT: Feel the energy (Chi, Prana, etc.) inside each part of your body as intensely as you can and try to stay within each part for fifteen seconds or so. Do not worry if you do not feel certain parts, just focus your attention on them anyway – with practice you will feel more sensation in your body as you do this meditation.

Once you have done your whole body one part at a time, use your intention and a strong focus to run the energy through your whole body like a wave. Do this a few times, from head to toes and back again. Do this for a couple of minutes or so.
After running the energy like a wave through your body, focus on feeling your inner body, in its totality, as a single field of energy. Hold that feeling for a few minutes before getting up (or falling asleep). Be intensely focused and aware during that time. Try to be present in every cell of your body.

HEALING A PARTICULAR PROBLEM

You can also use this meditation to help heal a specific injury, relieve muscle spasms or cramps, etc. While doing this meditation, place your focus on the area of concern and use your intention to go deeply into this area to relieve the pain or swelling, accelerate healing, etc. Use your imagination while working on yourself and you will be amazed by the results!

For example, if dealing with a headache or swelling (e.g., a sprain), you can imagine excess energy is being released from the area through little steam vents you mentally place in the area with your intention.

If dealing with a jammed joint, misaligned vertebrae or tight muscles, you can imagine that you are gently pulling (or levering) the surrounding bones energetically out of the body to relieve the tension, jammed area or misalignment. Once you have used your intention to gently pull the bones away from the area and relieved the tension, etc., just release them and they will go back into perfect placement (the body knows what to do!). This whole process only takes a few minutes. Remember to hold a clear intention of what you want to do and use your imagination!

NOTE: When doing this meditation, don’t be concerned if you lose your focus or your mind occasionally wanders, drawing your attention out of your body. As soon as you notice that you have lost your focus, just return your attention to your inner body. The more you do this meditation, the better you will get at holding your focus and feeling your entire energy field.
